In my wifes neon the airbag light started to come on when you turned the wheel all the way to either side. After about a week even during minor turns the airbag light would come on, now the airbag light is on and will not go out-I have checked the fuses and relays I have also hooked my diagnostic tool to it but because the check engine light is not on it gives me nothing-the fuses and relays are fine. Seeing how I am not a certified airbag tech I was wandering if there would be an answer I am missing or just to see if you could tell me what the problem would be. Thank you for your time.

Clockspring under the steering wheel. Eventually the horn and cruise control also will not work.

Your scanner must be able to access the air bag computer. Most aftermarket units can not. The fault code will be related to "Open squib" or "open detected in initiator circuit". The turning the steering wheel comment is the dandy clue you provided.
