1998 Dodge Neon Code 42

1998 DODGE NEON
145,000 MILES • 4 CYL • FWD • AUTOMATIC

I have checked the codes, it shows 42, this is fuel pump relay or auto shutdown circuit. but the car still runs. starts every time. however i am getting bad gas mileage.. only about 200 miles to a tank? are these problems related? and how could i fix it?

how did you come up with this code
do u have a check engine light on
get P codes P0000

the engine light is off... but with chryslers you can flash the codes by turning the key on and off 3 times.. when i did this it flashed 42.

OK good
but when you cycle key 3 times
is you have any codes it will be displayed in the odometer area (P0000)
and if no codes it will say done
check it out and let me know

The check engine just flashes to display the codes.. 42. then 55 which is end.
nothing else flashes...sorry.

I haven’t seen these kind of code on the new cars all codes goes like this p0000
and since you are unable to produce the p code may I suggest a visit to your local part store
(auto zone or so )and they will scan it for you and will give you the p code
