Hello
I have a '97 Neon with 129.786 miles auto transmission that is pretty peppy on flat road. It smokes a little oil but runs really good and accelerates also well on a flat road, until I encounter a grade as small as a bridge incline. When I approach a bridge I speed up the car, once climbing the car will slow down to 25 mph and will not speed up. I press down the accelerator and not kidding the car will slown down even more making it feel as if the car is being suffocated. I put brand new plugs, air filter, cables and a new fuel pump. No check engine light comes on. What gives with this car?

Thanks
TOM

Does the car start running rough or shaking? Also check to see if your muffler is kicking out black smoke. Cause if so then it could be your mass air flow sensor.

No the car runs beautifully, starts up strong and kicks down just right, no black smoke and if it was a mass air flow sensor would that set off a check engine light?

No. The thing about MAFS is that when its damaged it dosent know it most of the time so it dosent trigger the engine light. It sounds like its some sort of air or intake problem. I'm not too sure I've never really encountered anything like that in my experiences. Hopefully somebody can help you out here.
