1997 Dodge Neon idling high and pushing blue smoke

my car is idling at 5000 rpms when i start it then drops if i put it in neutrual and pump the clutch and is pushing blue smoke EGR code was given off If i fix the egr will this solve the problem or is there a bigger issue could the blue smoke be a piston ring problem?

yes it could be a piston ring problem or valve seals. how bad is the blue smoke?
