1997 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Automatic 122896 miles

ok, i took it to inspection it failed because of emission smoke, code P1491. please help me to find out exactly what might be wrong. how much? also, my engine overheats, so i cant drive it far distances. only to work and back

i believe p1491 is the code for radiator fan circuit.

when the engine is hot see if the fan is on.

post back what you find.

there is also a recall for neons of around your year, call the dealer and ask if your car need a new solid state relay for the radiator circuit.
