when i accelerate, atcertain speeds the steering wheel and front end of my car shakes. also, sometimes when i turn the wheel. could you give me an idea of somewhere to start checking so i dont get taken advantage of?

Check your tie-rods to make sure they are not worn out, or make sure a wheel weight has not fallen off of one of your wheels.
