1996 Dodge Neon fuel pump?

My Neon recently began to require a full throttle to get from 0 to about 50 mph, and even then it hesitates and takes much longer that it used to. This happens along with an occasional "thunk" sound from the front left underside of the car, but I don't know if its related. Tim in Indiana

check tranny fluid
check CV axles
check catalytic converter and exhaust flow
