2006 Dodge Magnum Speedometer

My speedometer is working intermitantly. When I open my car door and before start the ignition I hear a gear grinding sound and clicking from the area where the speedometer is located. It works about 10% of the time. WHAT COULD IT BE?

That is a tough one. Honestly, I would recommend removing the instrument cluster and checking things. The cluster itself may be bad.
