2004 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS A NON EXPESIVE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT HAD TO DO WITH EMMISSIONS. I HAVE TO INSPECTED AND WOULD LIKE TO GET THE PROBLEM RESOLVED BECAUSE IT WON'T PASS INSPECTION AS IT IS.
