2004 Dodge Intrepid Heater issue

My heater only wants to heat up after I have been driving for nearly 10 minutes and if I have to stop the heat blows cool. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem is?

Check coolant level and adjust as needed
check / replace thermostat
