I have noticed over the last month or so that my thermostat has been climbing more so than usual. It does not get to an over heating level, but when it climbs above the half-way mark and I brake or idle, my oil light comes on. On many occasions, I have checked the oil levels and they have been fine. I also get like a burning oil smell from the engine after I turn off the car after these episodes. Most recently, my vehicle seems to be dripping water from the engine area and the back of the muffler. The drips are becoming more prominent, and I know it is not any other engine fluid. What could the problem be? Radiator fluid levels have been normal, oil level has been normal.I am at a loss!

If the engine is running hotter, you may be smelling oil and dirt burning on the engine. As far as the temp, I would try replacing the thermostat and flushing the cooling system to see if that helps. Also, when the oil light comes on, do you hear a knocking or ticking from the engine? IF not, chances are the oil sending unit is going bad. It's not expensive or hard to replace.

Let me know if you have other questions.
