Car wont start. It makes clicking sounds when I try to start it. Can only get it started by jumping it, but have to keep the RPMS at 2 to stay running. The head lights and interior lights flicker. When we tested the battery one minute it would be good and seconds latter it would be bad and it does that back and forth, battery is a year old. Check engine light comes on for a week and goes of for about a month and will come on. What could it be, my husband said something about the computer going out or the ignition going out or haveing a shourt in the wiring.

How was the battery tested? Was it load tested? Also, keep in mind, batterys can short out internally. The clicking indicates the starter isn't getting enough power.

As far as the check engine light, if it has been on, there is a code stored in the computer. If you take the car to a nationally recognized parts store, they will most likely scan the computer for free (no money out of pocket) and then you'll know why the light is coming on.

Let me know.
