What is the symptom? If you have the Bosch starter, they give very little trouble.
It's on the left side of the engine, next to the transmission, underneath. Raising the car on a hoist is recommended. Raising the left side of the engine is necessary.
You might be able to install the smaller, more common Nippendenso starter. I did that on my '88 Grand Caravan. It will only need two of the three mounting bolts. The third one is replaced by a locating peg. The battery cable will bolt right on, but you might have to adapt the smaller solenoid terminal from a bolt-on to a plug-in.
