Interior problem
2002 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 70000 miles

Hi guys, I have a 2002 Chrysler intrepid R/T with a compass displaying the outside temperature and directions. I was wondering where the outside temperature sensor is located because for the past couple days, the compass displays about 9 degrees more than the actual outside temperature ! I think the sensor might be covered with snow. So could someone please tell me where the heck the outside temperature sensor is located ! Thanks, Pat

I also have a 2002 Intrepid and had the exact same problem.

The temperature sensor is mounted just behind the front bumper, in front of the radiator near the bottom. You can see it if you lie on the ground looking up between the bumper and radiator. It's shaped vaguely like a black spark plug with a mounting bracket attached.

Turns out the screw that mounted the sensor to the bumper backup structure had come loose, and the sensor was hanging by its wires right up against the front of the radiator, thus was reading too hot once the car warmed up.

I remounted the sensor a few inches away from the radiator and now it works fine.
