My gf drives a 2002 dodge intrepid with a 2.7L engine. Occasionally when she goes to start it her car wont start. The engine turns over and everything but it will not start? We both want to get this fixed but we have no idea where it could be origination. It doesnt do it all the time only occasionally (like once or twice in a 2 week period) when this occures we have found the only thing to do is let it sit about ten minutes which can be very frustrating. But it usually starts up just like normal after ten minutes any help would be appreciated with this. Even slight possibilitiies of what our problem would be would help too. At least then I would have an idea of what to check and where to start thanks again

Start by checking codes
when its not starting check for spark
check for fuel and fuel pressure
mark ASD relay and switch with another similar relay
good luck

Well as for checking codes I have taken it to the auto parts down the road and they did that for me free of charge but nothing came up? Could that be because it has to do it at the time for the codes to show up? But since it started fine and normal it wouldnt? And as for spark and fuel pressure how do I check those?

Well im on to the next back of issues with it.I changed the spark plugs.(They needed it) and I tested the fuel pressure it has always been good. Now my buddy told me that it could be my crankshaft position sensor? Is this possible because the car doesnt ever have a rough idle or misfire. There also isnt any poor acceleration or other symptoms of a bad crankshaft positioning sensor. I do know if the sensor is bad enough it wont start due to sending false readings or not sending a reading at all. But could that be my problem without the rough idle and other symptoms? And if you have any other ideas please let me know thank you!

Plug in the scanner and check if you have a SYNC between CAM and CRANK sensor
