Transmission problem
2001 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 60.000 miles

I brought this car brand new in 2001. I drove it mostly on weekends. The transmission will not shift into third gear and it will not shift using the auto shift. the check engine light is on constantly. Do I need another transmission.How much will it cost me to replace the transmission with a new one

may just need a shift solenoid or sensor replaced on the tranny. since engine light is on, best thing to do is have diagnostic test ran on it to show the throuble code(s) stored. this will pinpoint the issue and most likely save a lot of time and money.
