2001 Dodge Intrepid check engine light

My check engine light is on and only wish I remembered the code the dealer gave me but they said there was a short in the computer and would cost around 900 bucks to replace is this possible that it would have gone bad?

I don't have any problems the car runs fine could the oxygen sensor just be bad I have never had it replaced.

Any help would be appreciated
