2000 Dodge Intrepid

When I drive my car cuts out on me like I'm out of gas and then a few seconds in goes again could this be a fuel injector or maybe the fuel pump?

It sonds more like a fuel pump or filter issue. Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Here is a how to for checking it:
