Hello,

Ok, if it is the 3.2L or the 3.5L the water pump is driven be the timing belt it is possible that the belt jumped timing and that is why it won't start now.

If it is the 2.7L then I don't think the chain would go bad just because of the faulty water pump.

I would check for a failed Cam Shaft Sensor or a Blown Head Gasket depending on how hot the engine got.

Ok,

First what liter engine is it?

Check for spark at the plugs.

If you can need to check fuel pressure. Or at least that fuel is getting to the injectors.

Also did you double check to make sure all electrical connections were reconnected.

Other possibilities are the Cam Shaft Sensor, Crank Shaft Sensor and on some makes and models the Coolant Sensor can cause a no start condition.

Pulling codes may help with diagnosis.

A blown head gasket doesn't neccessarily mean there will be water in the oil. I have seen,in the last year and a half, 3 vehicle were the head gasket was blown and the exhaust was exiting the coolant system, the coolant system was overheating and appeared to be boiling over. But when I check it out it would start what appeared to be boiling as soon as the vehicle was started, and I was smelling exhaust fumes.

I don't believe it would be the timing chain.

Have you tried any of the things in my previous post?

If so please post results.

If not please do and post results.
