1999 Dodge Intrepid STALLING

Hi , I have a dodge intrepid with 98,000 miles . I take very good care of my car with scheduled maintaince like oil changes every two months , timing chains,etc . I don't have the sludge defect like other 2.7's so thats the least of my concern , but lately my car has been stalling . It only happens when the car is fully warmed up like to the half way mark on the temperature gauge . When it gets to that point the car starts to hesitate , the check engine like comes on , and it stalls . The car is able to start up again and run but five or ten minutes later it stalls again so I have to wait untill I cools down. Could it be the catalyc converter , fuel pump ,ETC. Please help

There are too many possibilities to guess. If the check engine light comes on, have the PCM scanned for trouble codes, this may lead to the problem.Could be a slow Idle AIr Control motor, you can try cleaning it and the throttle bore with carb cleaner to see if it helps stabilize the idle. Teh IAC has a flat connector and is mounted on the throttle bore

Thank you ,this helps alot. however i did scan the code and it turned out to be the crank position sensor.I cleaned it but the didn't work so i'll just replace it and see what happens. Also could the crank position sensor cause this hesetation and stalling?

Absolutely.If the computer doesnt see the crank signal, it wil use preset parameters that wont perform nearly as well as real time info

Hello jack , Just replaced the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor but the same problem still continues. I scanned the codes and it still reads (crank position sensor & cam position sensor intermediate ) . This leads me to believe the it could be a faulty pcm because it only happens when the car is fully warmed up and I heard that pcm's sometimes fail when it's to much heat and vibration . I have fuel pressure so it can't be fuel related. Could it be the pcm ?

Possibly, but you may want ot try an ASD (Auto-shutdown relay) they can cause the codes you are describing and will lose power when they get hot

Is it possible to swap ASD relay with a similar relay from the fuse box or do I just have to buy a new one ?

I cant remeber if it has one extra spade connector or not.If you remove it and it matches another , I would think it would work.
