If you're interested in a project car (You want to be a mechanic), and have the time and money, then sure you should buy the car.

We (mechanics) buy cars all the time that have mechanical issues. But that's because we love working on cars.

If this isn't the case for you, then I'd say "NO", don't buy that car. Because with so many miles, you won't know what else will go bad once you've invested so much money in bringing that engine back to life, or buying another engine.

Craigslist is full of good deals. You're sure to find something better. But "Buyer beware!", Craigslist is also full of scam artists. Especially on the car market.

They buy wrecked/flooded vehicles and use a mechanic to make the car appear fine, for awhile. But as soon as you get it home and shut it off, that may be the last time you ever hear your engine roar.

When buying ANY car off of Craigslist, have the seller agree to take the car to a shop who'll check the car out from top to bottom for a hundred or so bucks.

If they don't agree (even if you pay for it), then they have something to hide and you should say "No thanks" and run the other way!
