Hello,
I have a 99 dodge intrepid that randomly idles rough and shakes at startup. it rarely does it cold start and tends to do it after its been driven for a period of time and then shut off and restarted warm or after letting it cool down for about 20 minutes. most the time it will idle rough for about 5-10 seconds, you will see the rpms surge a bit and then it will clean up and run fine until you shut it off and start it again. every once in a while it will idle so rough at startup that it will almost not even start or will shake the car very violently. taping the gas pedal several times will sometimes get it to come out of its funk and then it will run fine until you shut it off again. No check engine lights of fault codes are in the system. I've replaced the spark plugs, oil and air filter. i had a compression check done and the 1st cylinder is slightly lower than the rest. would this be the cause of this problem? I do not hear any weird knocking or odd sounds coming from the engine when it is running fine.
thanks
Robert
