When I turn me wheels, when moving or parked, there is a loud clunk/thunking sound coming from the drivers side wheel. From what I have read most people say this is a CV joint problem, but looking at my CV joint the boot is still in great condition. I am wondering if this could be the strut bearing gone bad. If so: Is there any down side to just replacing just the one bad side with a "quick strut" complete assembly? If I do put on a quick strut do I need to worry about alignment problems, since I wont be turning the tie rod at all?

You can replace just one strut
as for the alignment replacing the strut will change the alignment

Does this sound like the strut bearing or the CV joint?
