1998 Dodge Intrepid Check engine code P1776

Hi ,
My check engine light came up. The error code is P1776 - Replace rear solenoid switch.
However my mechanic tells me that this switch is relating to my tranny but he is unable to find the code on his system.

I have noticed that this has not disappeared but my car does not drive as smoothly as before. Should i wait for the light to come on or get a second opinion, or if anyone can help and tell me what it is and how serious of a problem this is.
