My check engine light came on and I got a test done on the car and they said it was my egr valve.
Is this a huge problem?
If it's leaking can I still drive it safely?
What should I do?

You can drive it, but it will have erratic idle. You will also consume more fuel than normal. If the EGR is finally plugged up, you may not be able to start the car.
