every time I drive the car completly stops, sometimes not restarting for 15-20 mins. Check engine and cruise light pops on when it stops and the inside lights go dim when trying to restart it.

IF the check engine light has come on, there is a trouble code stored in the computer. Take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer. Most will do it for free. It will identify where the problem is coming from.
