1994 Dodge Intrepid shifting

occasionally the transmission will not shift into overdrive. if you stop and kill the car it usually will shift through okay. my brother says change oil and filters. car place says it's modules that need to be replaced. that will cost around 600 dollars

Have you taken it to a transmission tech? It could be a sensor or solenoid, but it could also be the torque converter.

Is the trans fluid presently clean and full? Chances are a service won't fix it, but it is the cheapest place to start.
