1994 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When taking off for the first time in the morning it will stall, then after the first few times of stalling out it will run, then when I go to take off it starts backfiring and loses horsepower, Hills are the worse. What could be the problem?

This was a common problem on minivans with the 3.3L engine, caused by defective original spark plug wires. Don't recall ever hearing of an Intrepid doing this but it might be something similar.

Another cause of these symptoms is a plugged catalytic converter.
