1987 Dodge Intrepid over heating

1987 Dodge Intrepid V8 Two Wheel Drive

i have changed the termastat replaced both rad hoses there is no smoke from engn. But still the car over heats after 10-20 min. Of idle what esle could be the cause.

No Intrepids were built in 1987, and they never had V-8 engines. Do you really have an Intrepid? If so, suspect an electric radiator fan not turning on. If it's some other model, most V-8-equipped vehicles didn't have electric fans. If you indeed have a 1987 model, and it has a belt-driven fan, suspect a partially plugged radiator, or more likely, deteriorated and crumbling cooling tube fins.

Also check that the shroud is in place. Some people remove it in the misguided attempt to aid cooling, but the opposite happens. The fan will draw air from around the sides of the radiator instead of through the cooling tubes.
