I have a Dodge Durango, 2006, which has been making a strange whining sound while driving. It gets to a higher frequency (Picth) and louder the faster you go. Dealer says it is the front wheel bearings. I have less than 49000 miles on this vehicle. What should the average of expected life of the front wheel bearings be? I've seen other posts where people had problems with their wheel bearing, but typically after 90,000 mile or more. are you aware of any recalls for this problem?

Thanks, Rick

no recals im aware of. its not uncommon to go bad at 49k. have the vehicle aligned after you replace the bearings to make sure the caster and camber are correct, incorrect wheel alignment could contribute to premature wear.
