A small kitten got in the engine & the belt came off of all the pulleys (the kitten wasn't injured). The belt was put back on and a new one was purchased & changed a bit later. My car has the automatic tensioner. The belt is installed correctly, however; it now squeeks & squeals. It was squeeking & squealing when the engine was started, now it only does it if the air conditioning or heater is turned on. It eventually quits only to do it again on & off about every 1/4 to 1/2 mile down the road. As long as the air or heat is not on, it doesn't squeek or squeal. Belt dressing was applied and it has not helped.

What might be the cause of this noise? I can't stand it.
