I just brought my car in for an oil change. They stated it needed a throttle body chemical injection cleaning which I never heard of. I guess there is some carbon buildup on the air valve. Anyway, the price is $109.00 for this service. I did not get the servicea nd told them I would do it on the next oil change. The dealership states I am losing 2-3 MPG with this. Can I just change the air filter or put something in my fuel that will do the same thing?

You can clean it out yourself by removing the air intake hoses and using rubbing alchohol and a cloth. Or carb cleaner.

You are not loosing 2-3 mpg on the fact of if you were you would have a rough idle also. But it does have effect on engine performance.
