Whenever I turn on the air conditioner I hear a loud noise that sounds like a jack hammer. If I turn off the A/C the noise will stop about 5 seconds later. The A/C is working but does not seem to be fully cooling.
What is the problem and any estimates to repair???

Either the ac clutch is bad or the compressor is bad. Open the hood and watch the clutch to see if it is kicking in and out.

Let me know what you find.
