When braking in stop and go traffic or other situations calling for frequent braking, the front wheels get very hot, smoke, and brake pedal travel gets lss and less. When allowed to cool, brakes return to normal. Shop has inspected brake rotors and pads and finds no indication of heat damage at all, no glze on padds, no warp or blue on rotor, no hydraulic leaks. Could this be brake hose collapse?

Most likely hose internaly ruptures and allow fluid to calipre but acts as check valve for return. Pump several times till wheel is hard to turn and pedal it hard. crack open bleeder if fluid squirts out and all fress up hose.
