I have a 2000 Dodge Durango with the 4.7 liter V8. Do any of the performance chips actually improve gas mileage significantly?
The chips advertised on the internet for $69 or $79 seem to good to be true, suggesting 20% increases to gas mileage, but tempting with the horrible gas mileage that the Durangos get. Thanks.

I have heard that they do improve mileage, but not too much. Chances are you are getting around 12MPG if it's 4wd. Remember, 20% is only another 2.4 MPG. Not too much.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Actually, I have known people that have tried them and claim that it helped. However, the help was minimal. Even 20% or 12 miles to a gallon is only 2.4 miles. It could help a small amount, but I can't guarantee it will.

To be honest, I've been in the business for nearly 30 years. What I have found is this. If you are racing the car, add on components / performance parts are needed. However, for a daily driver, the vehicles do their best the way the engineers designed them.
