Will removing my muffler cause any mechanical problems?

Why would you want to? Is it rusted out? it can change the backpressure, and in some cases this could cause converter damage.

there is rust damage and a hole from when I had it offroad. I am planning on putting straight pipes soon so the converter, I am not too worried about.
