Welcome to the forum, the headlamp switch has two circuits, there is a circuit breaker side of switch only for headlamps. The other circuit is for exterior lites and such. Pink wire with red tracer carries voltage to headlamp switch, hot all the time. Black wire with yellow tracer carries voltage from headlamp switch to external lites, when switch is activated. There may be a multiwire connector under the dash, close to steering column, where you can check those voltage circuits, use a test lite. All repair info says to dis-arm air-bag, where applicable, when working around steering column.
