I have a 91 Dodge Dakota 4 cylinder with 88000 miles on it. It starts fine and idles but as soon as you press the accelerator it stalls out. The mechanic checked the fuel and spark and said both are fine. His scanned indicated the TPS was bad (the check engine light came on when this started). I have replaced the TPS twice and the MAP sensor also but it still stalls out. The is 5 volts at the TPS wiring harness when it is not pluuged in but as soon as it is plugged in it drops to.05 volts. Any suggestions what else to check?

Was a pressure test done on the fuel system? And what happens when it dies, any backfires?

Yes the mechanic did a pressure test and he said it was fine. It does not backfire when it dies it just dies.

Dodge says in this driveabilty concern, check the MAP, the power to engine controller, injector faults, and theft alarm, also the tests need to be done on a good battery with proper rated capacity!
