cruise worked fine , then today it would iluminate cruise nor work. I checked under the hood for a bad fuse, there was no listing for cruise

Did you mean to say the light does not come on? If so, suspect a defective clock spring under the steering wheel. If I'm right, it won't be long before the horn doesn't work and the airbag light will come on due to an open circuit to the airbag.
