I've been having these "whomping" sounds that I hear inside of the cab when I drive my truck. It usually starts around 35-40mph then progressively gets louder up until around 55-60, then it becomes pretty much too fast to decipher. Almost like it blends in with the road noise. I've had my truck checked at a Mechanic for wheel bearings, and he feels it's most likely those, but after shaking and trying to find any wear, he didn't know which one it was. He wanted to put a chasis (stesthiscope for cars?) on it so he could tell which one it was. Could this also be tires? I haven't changed two of them since i bought the truck new in 06. Any information on helping me make a decision, or helping me diagnosis the problem myself would be helpful, thank you.
