I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota with about 41000 miles. The truck appears to be operating normally but suddenly the odometer reads "error". No other error messages have been displayed. I thought it might be a gas cap problem but I have not had to add gasoline recently and the gas cap appears to fit tight with nothing obvious wrong. Please provide any information as to what the problem may be.

Thanks

Hello,

This happens when the cluster goes out which holds the mileage value. I would get a rebuilt or used unit here is a video of the job being done on a similar car with diagrams below to help you with your car.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

That's Chrysler's very easy way to display diagnostic fault codes. It means you have no "P" codes, (power train). On older vehicles the Check Engine light flashed out a series of two-digit codes.
