2003 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have A 2003 Dakota 3.9. Engine sometimes backfires and misses. The check engine light has not come on.

check fuel pressure
check it for tune up if all OK
i would suspect bad o2 sensors
