my truck is a 4x4, and when I turn the wheels all the way to the left or right, the engine dies. It only does it when it is 4x4, not in 2wd. What could be the cause of this? Thanks.

This is a good question. The only thing I can think of is a vacuum leak within the 4wd. If there is a leak in 4wd, along with the added strain on the power steering pump, it may cause the engine to die.
Let me know if you find any leaks. Also, does the truck start right back up?

Thanks, this does sound like a good cause for it, and yes it starts right back up. Still no clue.
