2002 Dodge Dakota truck bounces

when i apply the brakes the truck bounces, could this be the brakes ?

How is it going over bumps with out braking?

Not sure on the description...

but two thought come to mind. First is weak shocks, in which case you can do a bounce test. At each corner of the vehicle, put your weight into it on a downward motion and release it. It should come back up and thats it. No recoil beyond that.

Second is the braking is causing it to lurch forward/downward? The rear brakes may not be working weel and the front brakes are grabbing.
