I just found a 2002 dodge dakota with extremely low miles that has been parked for 5 years and am looking into getting it running. The battery was replaced last year and supposedly it ran around that time fine. I am looking for suggestions on what to look for in getting it running again. I assume all new fluids and necessary rubber, anything else I should be weary of? Also, do you think it would be worth the investment to purchase a battery charger and attempt to salvage the battery? Any input would be appreciated.

First, the old fuel needs to come out of it. (all of it). Next, I would recommend changing the oil and trans fluid. My only concern is allowing a vehicle to sit for years is hard on gaskets, seals... The worst thing I would say would happen would be oil leaks.

Let me know if you have specific questions. Also, if the battery is only a year old, isn't completely dead, and never froze, it should be fine.
