Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 2002 Dodge Dakota misfires at startup, more when it's hot outside, loss of power, rough idling, and dealer can't find out why as the check engine light is rarely on. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Just about anything can cause a misfire, fuel--spark-- vacuum leak somewhere. As far as spark, I use a digital multimeter as a quick test, not conclusive, but fast, and you don't have to unplug anything, When the vehicle is acting up, touch the meter lead on the plug wire, It's an inductive reading, you don't penetrate the insulation. Other lead goes to ground. I check all the wires, look for reading to be close to the same.

Use a gage and check fuel pressure, if you think it might be a fuel issue. Take the throttle-body off and give it a good cleaning, make sure passages are clear.
