While on a short trip I noticed a loud valve tap sound from the engine. I checked the oil level and that was fine. The sound seems like it is coming from the passenger side of the engine and gets louder as I accelerate.

Hi there,

This sounds like a faulty hydraulic lifter, if there is no perceivable miss fire i doubt that it is a broken valve spring, get the lifter checked, some times an engine oil flush can clean out any carbon deposits that are causing the lifter fail.
