This week it seems that my fuel gauge isn't working correctly. I'm not 100% sure that it's broke. I put 3/4 of a tank of gas on Monday (today is Friday). A couple of days ago, I noticed that my gauge is reading 1/2 of a tank and hasn't changed since. I had my fuel tank worked on a couple of years ago and when the mechanic replaced the float it did the same thing it's doing now. I had t to take it back to him and they had to replace that one. It's worked fine since. Is there any way to test the gauge to see if it's actually broke?

Actualy, there is no sure fire way to check it other than keepingan eye on it. Fill the tank and keep an eye on the mileage to see if what it is reading seems correct. If it doesn't, then chances are the float is going bad again. I believe the float is part of the fuel pump, if I remember correctly.

Let me know if you have other questions.
