my truck will drive but when i get to about 40 mph it acts as if im stomping the gas pedal but im not...the gage says like 4

If your RPM's are increasing and the gas pedal is being held steady, you should be accelerating. Is your transmission slipping? If you mean your tachometer is raising then check to see if it may need transmission fluid.
