Recently have had problems starting, turn key and get only a single click sound, after several attempts it usually starts. sometimes I go weeks without a problem then it happens and usually continues for a couple of days or longer. What does this sound like to you guys? I understand that a flat spot on the starter is a possibility but thought that when starter was going it would emit a steady clicking noise (continue as long as the ignition is held forward). Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.[img:a06d6d9d3e]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/239720_DCP_0121_1.jpg[/img:a06d6d9d3e]

Hi:
It sounds like it's time for a new starter. A flat spot in the starter refers to a copper washer in the solenoid that pits and no longer makes a proper connection all of the time. As a result, the owner experiences the exact symptoms that you described.

I feel that replacing the starter will solve your problem.

If you have any other questions, let me know and I'll try my best to help.
